Stillife with lemon

This still life painting, created with acrylic on MDF, features a simple yet powerful composition of a lemon resting on a white cloth. I chose a dark background to emphasize the vibrant yellow of the lemon, creating a contrast that adds depth and focus to the scene. The light plays a crucial role here, falling from the left and casting soft shadows on both the cloth and the lemon, giving the painting a sense of calm and balance.

Textures were an important aspect of the process, from the smooth surface of the lemon’s skin to the subtle folds in the cloth. I aimed to capture the simplicity and beauty of an everyday object, showing how light and shadow can transform something as common as a lemon into the central element of a visual story.

Working on this painting was an exercise in patience and observation. It’s about finding the extraordinary in the ordinary and bringing forward the small details that are often overlooked in daily life.
