“Cycle” is a poignant figurative work exploring the delicate balance between life and death. At its center stands a young girl, a symbol of innocence and serenity, suspended in a moment where she is neither fully alive nor entirely gone—a quiet moment of transition. A warm, golden halo encircles her, representing life, divinity, and inner peace. At the same time, her stillness reflects the inevitability of death and how life’s beauty is inherently tied to its fragility.

Inspired by the tragedies of the Syrian war, the painting serves as a tribute to the many innocent lives lost. Vituz sought to convey the profound sorrow of losing something so precious and beautiful while elevating the figure to an almost iconic, divine status. The composition draws from the symbolism and aesthetics of icon paintings, where the interplay of warm tones and carefully crafted light evokes a spiritual dimension.

“Cycle” invites the viewer to reflect on the fleeting nature of life while inspiring a deep reverence for its beauty. It is a reminder of the preciousness of every moment and the enduring sorrow left in the wake of something beautiful disappearing—yet it also suggests a hope for transcendence.
